Boisson withdraws from WTA 1000 Cincinnati and delays her return to competition once again
Loïs Boisson will have to wait a little longer before making her return to WTA competition. Just hours after winning her first title in Hamburg, the French player announced her withdrawal from the ongoing WTA 1000 in Montreal, Quebec, due to a left adductor injury.
The Roland-Garros semifinalist had planned to compete in three tournaments in North America in the coming weeks—Cincinnati, Cleveland, and the US Open in New York.
Unfortunately for the world No. 47, despite her rehabilitation going well, she will not be able to take part in Cincinnati in the coming days, as she wrote on her social media in recent hours.
However, Boisson is still expected to compete in the WTA 250 in Cleveland starting August 17 before playing her second main draw at a Major during the US Open at the end of the month.
"Quick update: I’ll be resuming my season on hard courts only in Cleveland to give myself time to be fully 100% ahead of the US Open. I’ve resumed training, and my physical conditioning is going very well, but in agreement with my team and medical staff, returning too soon—especially as early as Cincinnati—would have been a risk. See you soon on the courts in Cleveland," Boisson wrote on her Instagram account.
