Bonzi defeated by Jarry and eliminated in the eighth round at Brisbane

The only French player on court at the Brisbane ATP tournament on this first day of 2025, Benjamin Bonzi challenged Nicolas Jarry in a bid to confirm his first victory of the season in the previous round.

In a duel against another Chilean, Bonzi had dominated Alejandro Tabilo in three sets.

For his part, Nicolas Jarry eliminated Mariano Navone (7-5, 7-6) and is also gaining in confidence after a mixed 2024 season.

Excellent on his serve today (10 aces and 0 double faults), Jarry got the better of the 28-year-old to qualify for the quarter-finals (6-2, 6-3 in 1h03 of play).

Jarry, ranked 35th in the world, will face Jiri Lehecka for a place in the last four.

The Czech confirmed his success against Rune by dominating Nishioka in three sets. The last two French players entered in the Australian tournament will play their Round of 16 matches on Thursday.

Gaël Monfils will face his bête noire Novak Djokovic (19-0 for the Serb), while Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will take on Frances Tiafoe.
