Carreno Busta Satisfied Despite Loss to Fils: "I'm on the Right Track"

Pablo Carreno Busta, a former Top 10 player, made his return to competition at Roland-Garros in 2024 after a long absence.
The Spaniard had no ranking left but managed to re-enter the Top 100 this week.
Invited by the Barcelona tournament organizers, he played his first-round match against Arthur Fils on Tuesday. Despite a 7-6, 6-3 loss, the Spaniard expressed satisfaction with his level of play.
"It was my first match in a long time against a Top 15 player, so I was a bit cautious.
I'm almost there, I'm on the right track, and I believe I still have the level to compete with the best. Fortunately, I no longer feel any discomfort.
I had to play a lot of tournaments because my ranking wasn’t high enough to compete at Roland-Garros. Now, it’s time for a little break, away from the pressure."
Carreno Busta confirmed that he will receive a wild card to compete in the Madrid Masters 1000.
