Cilic completes his resurrection and wins in Hangzhou!
Marin Cilic is timeless.
At the age of 35 and only a few weeks after his return to competition, the Croatian has just claimed his 21st career title at the ATP 250 Hangzhou.
Invited by the organizers, the 777th player in the world showed throughout the week that he had absolutely nothing to do with such a low ranking.
As efficient as ever on his serve, and capable of hitting the ball hard when he needed to, Cilic has won a title that may well raise his ambitions.
Up against a crowd-pleasing Zhizhen Zhang, the former world No. 3 never wavered, perfectly managing the match's two tie-breaks to win by experience (7-6, 7-6).
The icing on the cake is that he will be ranked 212th in the world next week, a leap of 565 places in the rankings!
