Cilic Joins Moller in Girona Challenger Final

Croatian players are in top form on the Challenger Circuit in 2025. While Borna Coric has already claimed three titles in this category since late February—in Lugano, Thionville, and Zadar—another of his compatriots will battle this Sunday for the Girona tournament crown.
That player is Marin Cilic. The former world No. 3 and 2014 US Open champion has secured his spot in the final in Spain. The 36-year-old Cilic has had an impressive run, defeating Carlos Taberner (6-4, 6-3), Marton Fucsovics (6-7, 7-6, 6-2), Pablo Carreño Busta (6-2, 6-4), and Jesper De Jong in Saturday’s semifinals (6-4, 6-4). He will re-enter the top 130 next Monday.
After reaching the quarterfinals at the ATP 500 Dubai tournament in February—where he defeated Alex De Minaur and Alexei Popyrin—the world No. 143 continues his strong run and will face Elmer Moller for the title. The Dane has not dropped a single set on his way to the final, having taken down Federico Coria (7-6, 6-2), Nikolai Budkov Kjaer (6-4, 6-0), Benjamin Hassan (6-3, 7-6), and Dusan Lajovic (6-2, 6-1).
