Popyrin Hires Former Top 10 Player to Turn Things Around

Alexei Popyrin had surprised everyone by winning the 2024 Canada Masters 1000. Unfortunately for him, apart from his victory against Novak Djokovic at the US Open shortly after, he has not been able to confirm this performance.

The Australian has only won two matches in 2025 and was once again eliminated in the first round in Miami against Roman Safiullin.

Last week, he announced his split with Xavier Malisse, who had been his coach since September 2022.

To replace him, Popyrin has hired Wayne Ferreira, a former coach of players like Jack Draper and Marin Cilic.

It remains to be seen whether this new collaboration will help the Australian get back on track or not.
