Cilic, oldest player to win a Challenger on grass

At the age of 36 years and 8 months, Marin Cilic continues to fight on the secondary circuit with impressive results, like in March when he won a title on clay in Girona.

Competing this week in Nottingham and drawing on his grass experience with a final at Wimbledon in 2017, Cilic controlled Shintaro Mochizuki 6-2, 6-3 in the final.

Thanks to this second Challenger title this year, the Croatian will gain 16 spots and make his return to the top 100 as the world's 85th.

Having become the oldest player to claim a grass-court tournament on the secondary circuit, Cilic can now rest before arriving at Wimbledon. The recent string of withdrawals allowed him to secure his spot in the main draw and avoid the qualifiers.
