Cilic recalls: "I couldn't miss a ball".
After major physical problems and several operations, Marin Cilic is back in action.
As part of this comeback, the Croatian, ranked 778th in the world this week, agreed to an interview with L'Équipe.
Unsurprisingly, Cilic returned to the most memorable moment of his career: his surprise triumph at the 2014 US Open.
10 years on, the former world number 3 hasn't forgotten: "I was playing very well, but I hadn't done better than the quarters at the US Open.
I was feeling good, I'd played good matches against Novak (Djokovic) at Roland Garros (losing 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 in the third round) and Wimbledon (losing 6-1, 3-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarter-finals).
But I was still a long way from beating him! Everything changed from the Round of 16 onwards.
Was I capable of winning a Grand Slam with the Big 3 winning everything? I'd say I was playing on instinct, without fear.
I couldn't miss a ball. It's very rare and it happened."
