Cincinnati Masters 1000: Mannarino Draws Thompson, Atmane and Royer Also Learn Opponents

In recent hours, three French players successfully advanced through the qualifying rounds of the Cincinnati Masters 1000. While Arthur Cazaux, the top seed, fell in the final round against Tirante (7-6, 6-3), Adrian Mannarino, Terence Atmane, and Valentin Royer were waiting to learn the identity of their first-round opponents in Ohio.
Recently returning to the top 100, Mannarino will open his tournament against Jordan Thompson. Forced to retire in the Wimbledon Round of 16 against Taylor Fritz, the Australian has not played a single match on tour since and will make his comeback at this Cincinnati Masters 1000. The winner of this duel will then face Tomas Machac for a spot in the third round.
As for Terence Atmane, he will take on Yoshihito Nishioka. The Japanese player is currently ranked 131st in the world and has only won two of his last thirteen matches. After an early exit in Toronto, the former top 30 player will look to bounce back but must first overcome the Frenchman.
If he succeeds against Nishioka, Atmane will secure a second-round clash with Flavio Cobolli, one of the in-form players on the ATP tour. Finally, Valentin Royer has also learned his fate. The 24-year-old world No. 111 will need to defeat Sebastian Ofner to advance to the second round.
Should he overcome the Austrian, he would then face Karen Khachanov, who last night secured a spot in the final of the Toronto Masters 1000, in the second round. Find the updated full draw for the Cincinnati Masters 1000 below.
