Cobolli Advances to His First Wimbledon Quarterfinal
The surprise of these Wimbledon round of 16 matches, Cobolli delivered another high-level performance by defeating the 2017 finalist Cilic with a score of 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 (3h25).
After eliminating Mensik in the previous round, it was now Cilic’s turn, a seasoned player on this surface, to fall to the world No. 24. The Italian, who had not progressed beyond the second round last year, has now joined the ranks of Panatta, Sinner, and Sanguinetti as one of the few Italian players to reach this stage of the competition since the start of the Open Era.
