A surprise qualifier for the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Cobolli is currently playing the best tournament of his career. After defeating 2017 finalist Cilic, the Italian expressed his overwhelming joy in a post-match interview with SuperTennis:
"I’m in the top eight at Wimbledon—what could be more beautiful? I’ve always dreamed of being here and playing this tournament. I never imagined I’d make it this far. I started playing tennis for matches like this, for tournaments like this. Not just for me, but for my whole family who are here, with my dad crying, my brother, and my friends.
This is a moment I’ll never forget—I’m truly happy, and I hope to play on a bigger court in the quarterfinals. I think I deserve it… But now, I need to rest. I’m a bit tired—it was a tough match."
