Cobolli, Defeated by Fils in Monte-Carlo: "Arthur Played a Fantastic Match"

Flavio Cobolli failed to qualify for the round of 16 at the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000. Fresh off his first ATP title in Bucharest, the Italian ran into an outstanding Arthur Fils.
The Frenchman won in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) without conceding a single break. After the match, the 22-year-old Italian reflected on his defeat, admitting his opponent was the better player.
"Arthur (Fils) is a very strong player, these are very tough matches, and you have to be at 100%. I, on the other hand, was a bit below because I was already very tired. Maybe the adrenaline from the tournament and the whole week in Bucharest was missing.
I don’t know, I felt off. Still, I have to congratulate him because he’s a very strong player—he played a fantastic match, made very few errors, and I just couldn’t keep up.
For me, the important thing is to keep going this way. I think I’ve unlocked something in my game, I have much more confidence, and I feel like I stay focused in my matches more often than before.
But it’s still tough when you play six matches in seven days. All of that took its toll. It’s not about being satisfied or not, just about the fatigue that overwhelmed me," he explained to Tennis World Italia.
