Cobolli Defeats Gasquet in Bucharest and Secures His First Main Tour Win of the Year
Richard Gasquet received a wild card to compete in the ATP 250 in Bucharest. He made a strong start in the tournament by defeating Botic van de Zandschulp.
This Thursday, he faced Flavio Cobolli for a spot in the quarterfinals, which would have been his potential 127th career quarterfinal. Unfortunately for him, he lost 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Despite managing to turn the match around in the second set, Gasquet was unable to hold his ground in the final set against an opponent who had yet to win a single main tour match in 2025 (with only one Challenger-level victory).
In the quarterfinals, Cobolli will face Filip Misolic.
