Cobolli on the atmosphere in the Italian Davis Cup team: "Our bond is comparable to that of a family"

After Matteo Berrettini's success, Flavio Cobolli finished the job against Filip Misolic and sent Italy to the Davis Cup semifinals in Bologna. The world No. 22 is now preparing to face Belgium, who knocked out France, for a spot in the final.

Italy does not seem bothered by the absence of its two best players at the start of this Davis Cup finals phase. While both Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti withdrew, captain Filippo Volandri's team easily dispatched Austria in the quarterfinals, thanks to wins by Matteo Berrettini over Jurij Rodionov and Flavio Cobolli, who was quick in defeating Filip Misolic (6-1, 6-3).

On Friday, Italy will face Belgium for a spot in the final. The world No. 22 certainly savored his victory, highlighted the good atmosphere within the transalpine team, and is already preparing to face the team that eliminated France on Tuesday in the first quarterfinal.

"I have always dreamed of taking part in this competition here in Italy, in front of our fans. I think their contribution was important, they were a great support. I feel the encouragement from the supporters at every moment and I am convinced that on Friday, their support will make the difference again.

This event stands out clearly from others thanks to a significantly larger crowd. I am surrounded by an experienced team that knows my dynamics and the right approach to take. Filippo (Volandri) and all my teammates have given me crucial help. In reality, I feel their support all year long, I always feel them very close. Our bond is comparable to that of a family.

Belgium is a really strong team. Collignon is the same age as me and I have known him for a long time. He plays very well, especially in the Davis Cup, where he won two incredible matches against the Australian team. Also, last year I played in Bologna against Zizou (Bergs, defeat 6-3, 6-7, 6-0), so we know him very well too. We will be ready to face them," assured Cobolli for Tennis World Italia.
