Daniil Medvedev honest about Sinner's absence: "It's favorable for everyone"
Daniil Medvedev, who will face Frenchman Arthur Fils this Thursday in the Indian Wells quarterfinals, shared some thoughts on Jannik Sinner's absence.
Suspended by the World Anti-Doping Agency until May 4, the Italian will miss four Masters 1000 events. A tough situation for the player in question but favorable for the rest of the tour, according to Daniil Medvedev:
"Overall, Sinner's absence, who has probably won one out of every two tournaments recently, maybe even a bit more, is certainly favorable in terms of results for everyone on the tour, not just for me, literally for everyone."
An honest analysis from Medvedev on the situation of the world number one. However, the Russian remains clear-eyed about the minimal impact of this decision on his recent performances:
"At the same time, given my recent results, I'm not too worried about Jannik Sinner. In the last tournaments, I didn't even face him because I didn't go far enough."
