Davis Cup: Ferrer remains optimistic for Spain: "Why couldn't we do like Denmark?"

Spain finds itself on the brink of elimination in the Davis Cup. David Ferrer, the captain of the Iberian team, certainly doesn’t plan to be discouraged and calls for optimism despite the urgency of the situation. Deprived of its stars, the team must now fight to avoid elimination.
Spain is close to elimination in the Davis Cup. In Marbella, and without Carlos Alcaraz and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, captain David Ferrer’s group saw Pablo Carreño Busta and Jaume Munar fall to Holger Rune and Elmer Moller.
A perfect day this Sunday will be needed for the Spaniards if they want to reach the Final 8 in Bologna. The task looks particularly daunting since Marcel Granollers, winner in doubles at Roland-Garros and the US Open this season, will not be able to play doubles due to an ankle injury. But Ferrer is not giving up yet.
"I won’t reveal publicly what I told my players to motivate them again after today’s results, but it’s certainly a hard blow for us. We’ll approach Sunday trailing 0-2, but as I always say, we’ll return to the court and we’ll have other opportunities. From there, it’s sports: you have to know how to bounce back.
Remember that Denmark was trailing 0-2 in the first round of qualifications against Serbia and ended up coming back. Why couldn’t we do like them? Now it’s time to heal our wounds, and tonight, we must stay positive to still have a chance to qualify," Ferrer assured in recent hours for Punto de Break.
