Davis Cup: Zverev Revives Germany Once Again, Decisive Doubles to Follow Against Spain
As in the quarter-final against Argentina, Alexander Zverev played the role of superhero for Germany.
Trailing 1-0 after Jan-Lennard Struff's loss to Pablo Carreño Busta (6-4, 7-6), the German team was flirting with elimination against a combative Spain.
Already the savior of his team on Thursday, Zverev repeated the feat this Saturday by dominating Jaume Munar after two tie-breaks (7-6, 7-6). In a match with no breaks, it was the world No. 3 who made the difference thanks to an effective serve (13 aces and 83% first serves).
Germany thus earns a decisive doubles in this Davis Cup semi-final. The Spanish pair Granollers/Martínez will face the German duo Krawietz/Puetz.
