De Minaur, Ebden and Cahill honored at Tennis Australia awards
The John Newcombe Medal is awarded by Tennis Australia each year for the Australian Player of the Year, as well as the Best Coach.
It is named in honor of John Newcombe, Australian tennis legend and former world No.1 in singles and doubles.
The medal for players was awarded to Alex de Minaur, for his entry into the top 10 and his participation in the ATP Finals.
Matthew Ebden also received it, having won the Olympic Games in doubles alongside John Peers and taken part in the ATP Finals with his partner Rohan Bopanna.
On the coaching front, Darren Cahill was rewarded for his work with Jannik Sinner. He accompanied him in a very successful year, as the Italian finished the year in first place and won the Australian Open and the US Open.
