De Minaur masters Michelsen to reach Australian Open quarter-finals
Alex De Minaur closed out the Round of 16 with a three-set win over Alex Michelsen (6-0, 7-6, 6-3) on Rod Laver Arena.
After leading 6-0, and a break in the second set, the Australian slackened off a little when serving for the set win, but dominated the tie-break to leave his opponent with no hope.
In the final set, Michelsen could regret not having been sufficiently offensive, with only 43% of De Minaur's first serves going in during the match.
In his first quarter-final in Melbourne, De Minaur will face world No.1 Jannik Sinner, an opponent he has never beaten in nine meetings.
