De Minaur Merciless Against Riedi in US Open Round of 16

The challenge proved too steep for Leandro Riedi. The Swiss player, ranked 431st in the world and coming through qualifying, was swept aside in the US Open round of 16 by Alex De Minaur (6-3, 6-2, 6-1).
The Australian was not caught off guard in this match, delivering an impeccable performance with 21 winners to just as many unforced errors, 9 aces, and breaking his opponent's serve seven times out of 14 opportunities.
De Minaur now awaits either Félix Auger-Aliassime or Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals.
Riedi, who notably defeated Francisco Cerundolo in the second round after coming back from a two-set deficit, will leave New York with his head held high, having played the best tournament of his young career. He will gain 222 ranking spots next Monday, making his return to the top 200.
