De Minaur reflects on the power outage: "What I liked yesterday was that we could disconnect a bit from the internet and go out for a walk"

Alex De Minaur has reached the round of 16 at the Madrid Masters 1000. After his match was postponed to Tuesday due to the massive power outage that affected all of Spain, among other places, the Australian had to wait an extra day to defeat Denis Shapovalov (6-3, 7-6).
Speaking at a press conference after his victory over the Canadian, the 26-year-old player reflected on the unusual day experienced by Spaniards on Monday, April 28.
"There wasn’t much we could do—practically our whole lives revolve around technology. For example, we had no mobile network.
We spent the whole day walking around with the team, playing cards, and went to Mercadona (a supermarket chain) that was open to buy something for dinner, but there was no bread left.
What I liked yesterday was that we could disconnect a bit from the internet and go out for a walk, seeing the people of Madrid spending time with their friends and living more in the moment.
Lately, we’re too addicted to technology, so I loved seeing how yesterday people went to the park or played football. I even saw videos of people dancing. It was a tough day, but all the Spaniards handled it really well," De Minaur told *Punto de Break*.
