De Minaur Defeats Shapovalov and Advances to Madrid Round of 16

De Minaur secured a victory against Shapovalov (6-3, 7-6) in a match lasting 1 hour and 28 minutes.
After a first set dominated by the Australian, capitalizing on the Canadian's inconsistencies (17 unforced errors) and winning 50% of points behind his first serve, the level of play tightened in the second set.
Despite taking numerous risks (18 unforced errors), Shapovalov came close, even forcing a tie-break (lost 7-3). He served significantly better (6 aces), winning 86% of points on his first serve. However, the 26-year-old was never able to break his opponent's serve.
On his part, De Minaur once again delivered a strong performance on clay, continuing his momentum from a semifinal run in Monte-Carlo and a quarterfinal appearance in Barcelona. He remains undefeated against Shapovalov (5-0).
Next, he will face the winner of the match between Tsitsipas and Musetti for a spot in the quarterfinals.
