De Minaur, Robredo, and Rublev: The Grand Slam Quarterfinal Curse
Alex de Minaur played his 6th Grand Slam quarterfinal of his career at the US Open against Felix Auger-Aliassime, and the Australian suffered a 6th defeat.
Despite his consistency, de Minaur currently shows a glass ceiling at this stage of the competition.
He has become the 3rd player with the most Grand Slam quarterfinals played without advancing past them, behind Tommy Robredo (0/7) and Andrey Rublev (0/10).
Behind them, other well-known names can be found: Guy Forget (0/5), or Andres Gomez (0/5). But the Ecuadorian eventually broke the streak in 1990 at Roland Garros, even winning the title.
