Diallo-Majchrzak, match-up between lucky losers in the second round of the Madrid Masters 1000

The news at the start of the day in Madrid is Carlos Alcaraz's withdrawal. The world number 3, who injured his adductors during the final of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona against Holger Rune, officially announced his withdrawal this Thursday noon during a press conference at the Mutua Madrid Open.
The double winner of the Madrid tournament, seeded number 2, has therefore pulled out. As per the regulations, it is a lucky loser, in this case, Kamil Majchrzak, ranked 90th in the world, who replaces him in the main draw and will directly enter the second round.
The Pole, defeated by Elmer Moller in the final round of the qualifiers (5-7, 6-4, 6-4), will thus face Gabriel Diallo, ranked 78th at ATP. Whether by fate or not, the Canadian is also in the draw as a lucky loser.
After being defeated by Borna Coric in the qualifiers, Diallo was called up at the last moment due to Yoshito Nishioka's withdrawal. The Quebec native easily defeated Zizou Bergs (6-1, 6-2) and will thus face Majchrzak in an unprecedented match-up for a place in the third round.
