Djokovic drops a set against Svajda but advances to the third round of the US Open

Scheduled in the first rotation of the day session, Novak Djokovic continues his quest for a fifth title in New York and a 25th Grand Slam.
After comfortably defeating Learner Tien (6-1, 7-6, 6-2) in his opening match of the tournament, the Serb faced another American player on Wednesday, qualifier Zachary Svajda.
The world No. 145 boldly seized his opportunity in his debut on Arthur Ashe Stadium, taking the first set in a tiebreak (7-5) without conceding a single break.
Undefeated at this stage of the competition in New York, Djokovic then shifted into higher gear, committing only eleven unforced errors over the next three sets. The battle became tougher for Svajda, who ultimately fell 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 in 2 hours and 31 minutes.
In his 19th appearance at the US Open, Djokovic will be present in the round of 16. He will face either Cameron Norrie, whom he defeated in the round of 16 at Roland-Garros this year, or Francisco Comesana.
