Djokovic, Federer, and Murray will attend Nadal tribute ceremony
Roland-Garros 2025 is officially underway! After the qualifying rounds concluded, the first round of ATP and WTA draws begins this Sunday, May 25, with notable players on the courts from day one.
However, the event at the start of the tournament is the tribute ceremony for Rafael Nadal, which will be held on Court Philippe-Chatrier after the three daytime matches.
Winner of this Parisian tournament 14 times, the Spaniard retired at the end of last year, marking the first edition without the Majorcan, who dominated most of the titles for the past three decades. This ceremony is expected to be attended by many tennis fans, and notable guests will be present in the French capital.
Indeed, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray will attend the tribute to the king of clay in the upcoming hours. The Serbian revealed this in recent hours after winning the 100th title of his ATP circuit career in Geneva.
"This will be a very special, very emotional moment for everyone. With Roger (Federer) and Andy (Murray), we'll be there for the ceremony. It will be a beautiful moment. It was hard to stay motivated without him.
Honestly, I didn't think it would be like this. A part of me left with him, and it has been a challenge to find my motivation again. Fortunately, there are other things that inspire me. But after six months, I think I can say it's going better," Djokovic told the Swiss media Le Matin.
While Mauresmo announced on Clique that Nadal would get chills during the ceremony, Nadal's mere return to his garden should remain, whatever happens, as one of the main highlights of this 2025 edition from the very first day of the tournament.
