Djokovic on his rivals' retirements: "I'm a bit sad they're gone".
Novak Djokovic will play an exhibition match this Sunday against Juan Martin Del Potro, who will bid a final farewell to the Argentinian public.
The Serb, who has made friends with the Argentine, spoke of the retirement of his main rivals in recent seasons.
In a press conference prior to the event, Djokovic said he was "very happy" to be back in Argentina after "eleven years" and "honoured" that Del Potro had chosen him to play this match.
But journalists also had an interesting question for the former world No. 1: Is this the end of an era with the retirement of the other members of the Big 4?
Djokovic had this to say: "Yes and no. I'm still playing. I'm still playing and I think I'm part of a golden age of tennis. Federer, Nadal, Murray, Wawrinka, Del Potro... it was a very special era for our sport.
Our personal careers intersected with all these rivalries over the last 15 years.
I'm a little sad that my greatest rivals are gone. A part of me, tennis-wise, is going with them, but I'm still looking for motivation.
Now I'm working with a new coach, one of my greatest rivals, to see if we can achieve great things together."
