Djokovic to meet Djere again: "It was a very difficult match".

Djokovic to meet Djere again: It was a very difficult match.

Novak Djokovic prepares to take on Laslo Djere in the second round of the US Open. This match between compatriots is bound to have a special flavour, especially here at Flushing Meadows.

As a reminder, the two men met in the third round here last year. Back then, Djere unleashed all his blows, upsetting Djokovic and even leading by two sets before losing (4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3).

Asked about his reunion, 'Nole' said: "It's obviously great for Serbian tennis that two Serbian players are playing against each other.

It's a guaranteed third round for a Serb. I hope it's me, but Djere is a guy who really likes to play on a big stage.

I think he also likes the conditions here. It's a bit faster. The ball stays low. He's got a very flat backhand in particular and a very good serve, an excellent return.

He's as physically fit as anyone. I remember our match very well. It was a very difficult match. I'll try to analyze that and hope to do some things even better than last year."
