Draper benefits from Berrettini's withdrawal after one set played in Madrid
The duel for a place in the round of 16 in Madrid between Jack Draper and Matteo Berrettini unfortunately lasted only one set.
After the tie-break won 7 points to 2 by Draper, the Italian withdrew. He explains the reason: "Not playing yesterday allowed me to recover better because I finished with severe abdominal pain.
As soon as I started feeling that area again, I didn't want to take any risks because we don't want a serious injury at this stage of the season. I need to be at 100% to beat the best. I hope to be in shape for the Rome tournament."
As for Draper, he will face Tommy Paul in the next round in Madrid.
