Draw for the WTA 500 tournament in Strasbourg: Pegula, Badosa, and Rybakina set, Krejcikova makes her big return
Next week, some of the world's best players will be fine-tuning their preparations for the French Open. Indeed, seven members of the top 20 (including three in the top 10) will be present in Strasbourg for the 2025 edition of the Alsatian tournament.
The lineup, announced in recent weeks, is quite impressive, and the matches should live up to expectations in the coming days, especially as exciting matchups will take place from the first round.
Jessica Pegula, the number 1 seed, will enter in the second round against Anna Kalinskaya or a qualifier. A 100% American clash will occur between Danielle Collins and Sofia Kenin, while Daria Kasatkina will face Emma Raducanu.
Paula Badosa, exempt from the first round, could meet Alizé Cornet in the round of 16 if the Frenchwoman manages her entry into the competition well. Diane Parry will play against Leylah Fernandez and will face Liudmila Samsonova or Linda Noskova if successful.
In the other half of the draw, Barbora Krejcikova, sidelined with a back injury since November, will play her first tournament in 2025 and has drawn Magda Linette, ranked 32nd in the world, for her opening match of the year.
Elena Rybakina will start her tournament against Wang Xinyu or a player from the qualifiers, while Elina Svitolina and Clara Tauson will battle for a spot in the second round. Finally, Emma Navarro, the number 2 seed, awaits the winner of the match between Beatriz Haddad Maia and Magdalena Frech.
