Eala Ends French Player Mansouri's Run in São Paulo

Yasmine Mansouri, a 24-year-old French player, competed in her very first main tour match of her career during the WTA 250 tournament in São Paulo in recent hours.
After successfully navigating the qualifying rounds against two Brazilian players (Ana Cruz 6-3, 6-2 and Thaisa Pedretti 6-2, 6-4), the world No. 380 earned the right to challenge third seed and world No. 61 Alexandra Eala in the first round of the main draw.
An interesting experience for the Frenchwoman, even if the task proved too great. The Philippine player, a semifinalist at this season's WTA 1000 in Miami against Pegula, dominated the match from start to finish and won in straight sets (6-0, 6-2 in 1 hour and 15 minutes).
Mansouri was unable to convert any of her four break points in the match. Eala advances to the round of 16, where she will face Julia Riera. Following the eliminations of Jeanjean and now Mansouri, only one French player remains in contention in the Brazilian city: Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah.
The latter, who survived a scare in the first round after trailing 5-0 in the third set against Ana Sofia Sanchez, will face another Mexican player, Victoria Rodriguez, who benefited from Ajla Tomljanovic's retirement in the opening round.
