Efremova, Last French Player in Contention, Defeated in US Open Juniors Quarterfinals

There are no more French players left in the draw of the 2025 US Open Juniors. Ksenia Efremova, the last French player still hoping for the title, was eliminated in the quarterfinals this Thursday.
Facing Belgian player Jeline Vandromme, 17 years old and ranked 495th in the world, Efremova was powerless. In just over an hour of play, Vandromme wrapped things up in two sets (6-1, 6-3) and advanced to the semifinals. For a spot in the final, the Belgian will face 16-year-old British player Hannah Klugman. Klugman, for her part, eliminated Julia Stusek (6-3, 6-2).
Vandromme had already defeated Efremova in the first round of the same Grand Slam tournament last year (7-6, 7-6), and the French player was unable to get her revenge. The other semifinal will feature Swedish qualifier Lea Nilsson against Mika Stojsavljevic.
Another French player in the draw, Daphnée Mpetshi Perricard, was unable to get past the first round. The 16-year-old younger sister of Giovanni managed to come through the qualifiers but then fell in her opening match in the main draw against Bella Payne (7-5, 6-4).
