Roland-Garros 2025: A Sad First for French Tennis in Juniors Since 1978

As the men's and women's singles tournaments approach their conclusion and the second week is already underway, the Roland-Garros Juniors tournament has also begun in recent days.
This was an opportunity to see the young talents of French tennis in action. While Moïse Kouamé, a quarterfinalist in the 2024 edition, was eliminated in the first round this Monday, all remaining French players—both boys and girls—have exited the tournament prematurely.
Indeed, the last four players still in contention this Tuesday lost in the second round. This was the case for Daphnée Mpetshi Perricard and Ksenia Efremova in the girls' draw.
The former, sister of Giovanni, fell to Chinese player Zhang Ruien (6-1, 6-4), while Efremova, who won the title in Charleroi last week, was defeated by Hannah Klugman (6-1, 6-3). Both players had been eliminated in the women's qualifying rounds in recent days.
As for the boys, Pierre-Antoine Faut couldn’t find a way to overcome Max Schoenhaus (6-1, 7-5), while Mickaël Kaouk stumbled against Ryo Tabata (6-3, 6-2). As L’Équipe reports, this marks the first time since 1978 that no French player will reach the third round of Roland-Garros Juniors.
