"Even without a Grand Slam, it's a fantastic season for me," says Sabalenka ahead of the US Open
Despite reaching two Grand Slam finals, Sabalenka did not manage to achieve the ultimate prize this season. While many consider the Belarusian's season disappointing, others see it simply as a learning process—an analysis shared by the 27-year-old player.
"How difficult would it be to accept finishing the season without a Grand Slam? Obviously, I would like to end with a title and at the top of the rankings. Nevertheless, even if I don't win here, it will still be a fantastic season for me.
The tough lessons I've learned this year will only make me stronger. I will work even harder during the preseason to ensure a successful year."
For reference, Sabalenka reached the final of a tournament seven times this year, with a negative record of 3 wins and 4 losses. As the defending champion in New York, she will attempt to retain the trophy and will begin with a first-round match against Masarova (ranked 109th).
