"I'm happy to have regained my confidence and my tennis level," Paolini shows her ambitions ahead of the US Open
Jasmine Paolini, world number 8, has regained confidence in recent months. After a difficult start to the season, the Italian has gained momentum and won the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome at the expense of Coco Gauff last May.
Despite disappointing Grand Slam performances compared to last year, the 29-year-old player remains one of the reliable forces on the tour, and confirmed this by reaching the final of the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati in recent days.
She lost in a tight final against Iga Swiatek but is now confident and hopes to continue this momentum at the US Open in the coming days.
"In Cincinnati, I had good feelings. Match after match, things improved, I'm happy to have regained my confidence and my tennis level. I hope to show it again here.
I love when I'm fully in the match and hitting well. If I had lost in the semifinals, I would certainly have played mixed doubles at the US Open, because I would have had an extra day to recover.
It's not always easy physically, because I always play singles and doubles. So I thought the best decision for me, for my body, was to rest.
I've found some stability in the team I currently have. For now, I want to keep that. Of course, I'm looking around. Maybe in the coming months, I'll think about my next coach.
But not now. For now, it's better to think about playing tennis and showing the best level possible," Paolini told Super Tennis before facing Destanee Aiava in New York.
