Fils and Humbert hold their ranks to reach the second round at Roland-Garros

Arthur Fils and Ugo Humbert were under scrutiny this Monday for the continuation of the first round at Roland-Garros.
Fils, the French No.1, secured the first victory of his career on the Parisian clay. After quickly leading by two sets to none against Nicolas Jarry, he was taken to a fourth set which he eventually controlled to win 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 in 3 hours and 23 minutes of play.
In the second round, he will face Jaume Munar.
On court 14, Ugo Humbert was able to benefit from the support of the crowd to win in three sets against Christopher O’Connell (7-5, 6-3, 7-6).
The native of Metz, physically diminished since April due to a fracture in the fifth metacarpal, was coming off a series of three consecutive defeats. He will play his next match against Jacob Fearnley.
