Fils Confident Ahead of Barcelona Tournament: "I'm Playing Well Right Now"

Quarterfinalist in Monte-Carlo and defeated by the eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz, Arthur Fils is set to compete in the ATP 500 in Barcelona, where he reached the quarterfinals last year.
The Frenchman, who will achieve his career-best ranking tomorrow as world No. 14, will begin his campaign in Catalonia against Pablo Carreno Busta. He was very positive during the press conference:
"I’m playing good tennis right now. Even here in Barcelona, my training sessions have gone really well. The week in Monte-Carlo was very positive. I played well against incredible players like Griekspoor, Cobolli, Rublev, and then I lost to Alcaraz.
But I had some very good matches. I had a few opportunities to win that match (against Alcaraz). But I was happy to compete in that tournament last week, and now I’m looking forward to playing this one.
I wasn’t very good last year. So I tried to do better this season in the Masters 1000s. I’m starting to perform at a higher level. Of course, it would be better if I didn’t lose every time in the quarters. But everything’s going well."
