Fils earns right to challenge Hurkacz at Wimbledon
Arthur Fils didn't miss out on his Wimbledon debut. The Frenchman, ranked 34th in the world, beat Dominic Stricker in two hours and four sets (6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4), who had fallen back to 149th in the world rankings after missing the first half of the season with back problems.
Fils played a serious match, hitting 40 winners against just 24 unforced errors (34 against 33 for the Swiss). In the second round, he'll have to do even better, as Hubert Hurkacz, seeded no. 7 in the draw, will stand in his way.
