Solid Garcia reaches the second round at Wimbledon
Carline Garcia had no room for error on Tuesday. Eliminated in the second round at Roland-Garros, she had to turn things around.
Faced with a player who had already beaten her twice, Anna Blinkova, the French No.1 successfully held her ground. As aggressive as ever (36 winners, 40 unforced errors), Garcia regularly outclassed her opponent, winning in two tight sets (6-4, 7-5).
In the second round, she will be the clear favorite, as world No.97 Bernarda Pera will face her before potentially facing No.14 Ostapenko in the third round.
