Stefanos Tsitsipas held his nerve perfectly on Tuesday. Faced with a resilient Taro Daniel who was as consistent as ever from the baseline (16 unforced errors), the Greek didn't fall into the trap.

Buoyed by a quality first ball and aggressive, hard-hitting groundstrokes (56 winners, 32 unforced errors), the world number 11 managed the important moments very well to win in three sets and less than 2 h 30 of play (7-6, 6-4, 7-5).

Confirming his status as a serious outsider, Tsitsipas will meet the winner of the match between Ruusuvori and McDonald in the second round.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.
