Fils Officially Withdraws from the US Open
Arthur Fils had been sidelined for two months due to a stress fracture in his back. After returning to competition at the Toronto Masters 1000, the French player subsequently withdrew from Cincinnati and was highly uncertain for the US Open.
He officially confirmed his withdrawal from the American Grand Slam on Tuesday. He explained: "After an injury that kept me off the courts, a warning sign felt upon my return in Toronto and then in Cincinnati led me to make the difficult but reasonable decision to withdraw from the US Open.
This decision was made to allow for a full recovery. I am working hard every day with my team to return in top form and be ready for the end of the season. Thank you all for your support."
