Fils Satisfied with His Progress: "I'm a Much Better Player Than Last Season"
Defeated in his opening match at the Madrid Masters 1000 by Francisco Comesaña despite a strong lead in the first set (7-6, 6-4), the world No. 14 had time to prepare for the Rome tournament. "I'm very happy to be back in Rome. I have great memories from two years ago. This is where I won my first Masters 1000 match (against Juan Manuel Cerundolo in 2023, after coming through two qualifying rounds). Those are amazing memories. I love everything about Rome.
I'm a much better player than last season. I play better. I'm also a little more experienced now. Of course, I'm still young, so I have plenty of time to play this tournament. Maybe ten more editions or even more. But I feel much better, I feel really good. I really hope to have a great tournament," he told L’Équipe in recent hours.
