First half for Sinner in the Cincinnati wind
Jannik Sinner will play in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 for the first time this Sunday. The world No.1 qualified by defeating Andrey Rublev in three sets (4-6, 7-5, 6-4) after a two-and-a-half-hour battle in very windy conditions on Saturday. Initially dominated, he turned the match around at the end of the 2nd set by showing himself to be more solid from the baseline than the Russian.
A big test awaits the Italian in the semi-finals, when he meets Alexander Zverev. The German, world no. 4, built up his confidence after a tremendous two-and-a-half-hour battle with Ben Shelton (3-6, 7-6[3], 7-5).
