Fonseca Defeats Humbert to Advance to the Third Round in Miami

On a streak of six consecutive wins since the Phoenix Challenger, Joao Fonseca dominated Ugo Humbert (6-4, 6-3) this Saturday at the Miami Masters 1000.
The match, initially scheduled on the Grandstand after the Draper vs. Mensik clash, was moved at the last minute to the center court for safety reasons. This change did not disrupt Fonseca, who set the tone early by winning the first eight points of the match (2-0).
Humbert then found his rhythm, but he was never able to recover from the early break, as the Brazilian comfortably secured the first set after 33 minutes of play.
With the crowd fully behind him, Fonseca, who displays impressive composure at just 18 years old, continued his momentum in the second set.
It was thanks to two massive forehand winners at 2-2 (see video below) that he delivered the final blow, ultimately winning in just 1 hour and 10 minutes of play.
Humbert certainly fought hard, often pumping his fist, but he never managed to trouble his opponent, winning only four return points throughout the entire match.
Fonseca, whose talent is no longer in question, undoubtedly delivered one of his best performances this year. He will now compete for a spot in the round of 16 against Alex de Minaur or Yunchaokete Bu.
