Mpetshi Perricard Defeated by Thompson in the Second Round of the Miami Masters 1000

There will be no first victory in Miami for Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who was eliminated in his first match by Jordan Thompson (7-6, 7-6).
While his highly impactful playing style, primarily based on his serve, had worked wonders earlier in the season in Brisbane, Mpetshi Perricard has been going through a rough patch for several weeks, winning only two of his last five matches.
Against Thompson, the Frenchman was not sharp enough on returns (winning only 20% of points on his opponent’s service games) to hope for a victory.
The Australian, on the other hand, took advantage of the world No. 29’s weaknesses to dominate the match (25 winners to 12 unforced errors) and make the difference in two tie-breaks.
Thompson will face Alexander Zverev in the third round, while Mpetshi Perricard will need to regroup for the clay court season, where he will defend his title won in Lyon last year.
