Fritz and Hurkacz, Still Recovering, Withdraw from Munich Tournament

Next week, following the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000, some players will head to Bavaria to compete in the Munich tournament, fine-tuning their preparations before the intense clay-court stretch of Madrid–Rome–Roland Garros, the most demanding phase of the season.
However, the German event has lost two of its top stars for the 2025 edition. While Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Ugo Humbert, and Matteo Berrettini are expected to participate, two top-30 players have been forced to withdraw: Taylor Fritz and Hubert Hurkacz.
The American, ranked world No. 4, is still struggling with an abdominal injury that already forced him to pull out of last weekend’s UTS Nîmes and this week’s Monte-Carlo Masters 1000. Meanwhile, the Polish player, who has dropped to 26th in the rankings, will also be unable to compete.
The two-time Masters 1000 champion, still dealing with a back issue, hasn’t played a single match since his third-round loss to Alex De Minaur at Indian Wells. After withdrawing from Miami and Monte-Carlo, he won’t recover in time for the Munich tournament.
Fresh off his Miami triumph, Jakub Mensik benefits from these two withdrawals to enter the main draw, as does David Goffin, who often excels on clay and recently made headlines by defeating Carlos Alcaraz at the Florida tournament.
