Fritz pours out his anger: "Fans of rival players will always say you're a cheat"
Taylor Fritz is often active on X to give his opinion on what's happening on the tennis planet. Following the announcement of Iga Swiatek's positive test, the American wanted to talk about the inappropriate reactions that multiply when doping is announced.
He published a long text to express his indignation: "What drives me crazy in these situations (about what's happening on X) is not the cases themselves.
It's hard to know what happened and all the details in these situations, so speculating is not what I like to do.
It's fine to have your own opinions but what I can't understand and what's very annoying as a player is the insane bias of the tennis world to support any story that goes their way.
If it's a rival of the player you support who tests positive, then you're on the "let's call him a doper/cheater as much as possible" team. If it's your favorite player, then it's "he's innocent, no questions asked".
How come you can't eliminate your bias and form an honest opinion?
Even if, as a player, you can prove your innocence (I'm not saying anyone is or isn't), fans of rival players or those prejudiced against you will still blindly say you're a cheat.
It makes me really sad for all the innocent players who have to put up with this."
