Gauff Dominates Fellow American Ann Li and Advances to Madrid Round of 16

After defeating Yastremska in the previous round (0-6, 6-2, 7-5), Gauff continued her Madrid run by beating Li (6-2, 7-6).

This was the second time she faced her compatriot, having previously defeated her in Berlin in 2022. After a straightforward first set (6-2), Gauff had to work harder to secure a tie-break (7-2) and overcome the world No. 58.

Throughout the match, the 21-year-old converted 5 out of 9 break points and won 71% of points on her first serve, securing her spot in the round of 16.

The American will aim to improve on last year’s performance, where she fell to Keys. In her clay-court debut this season, she competed in Stuttgart, reaching the quarterfinals.

Next, she will face the winner of the match between Bencic and Haddad Maia.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.
