Gauff loses to Badosa in Australian Open quarter-finals

Paula Badosa pulled off an upset against Cori Gauff in Melbourne on Tuesday. She eliminated the American 7-5, 6-4.

Badosa will be back in the top 10 after the tournament, having been ranked 140th prior to Roland-Garros 2024, eight months ago.

She said in a post-match interview: "Today I came out and wanted to play my best match, and I think I achieved that.

A year ago, I didn't know if I should retire from tennis or not. And now I'm here, competing with the best players in the world."

In the semi-finals, she will face the winner of the clash between Aryna Sabalenka and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
