Gauff Overpowers Bouzkova to Reach Roland-Garros Round of 16
For the fifth consecutive year, Coco Gauff has advanced to the second week of Roland-Garros.
The world No. 2, who was the runner-up in 2023 and a semifinalist last year, defeated Marie Bouzkova in straight sets (6-1, 7-6) in one hour and 45 minutes. The Czech player came close to forcing a third set, serving at 5-3 and 6-5, but Gauff ultimately had the final say, clinching the tiebreak 7-3.
In the round of 16, she will face Ekaterina Alexandrova, who earlier defeated her compatriot Veronika Kudermetova (6-2, 6-2).
